Dear people of Colorado!
Well we are finally on our way back home after a very interesting week. The rain continued through thursday into Friday, though we weren't able to go back go the worksite we still had plenty to do. We gave our camp good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint, sang at a nursing home, painted a skate park, bagged sand at the local fire house and cleaned the VBS building. But it wasn't all work, we also were able to perform our worship one more time at our friend Pastor Titus's church where they were all enthusiastic and engaged.
On Friday we were able to spend a wonderful and exciting day at Glacier National Park. The lake and the scenery were beautiful and as a group it was decided that we would take the three mile round trip hike up to Virginia Falls. Unfortuntely for me my broken toe was not too into this plan. Many spots were too rocky or too steep or too wet for my boot. In total I probably made it a mile and a half. I would have been left up at the falls if not for my knight in shining armor Chaz who carried me on his back the rest of the way. We caused our fellow trailmates to laugh smile or look at their fellow companions in hopes of a piggyback ride of their own. But little did we know that Chaz had not been eating much or drinking water that day yet he pressed on and got me down the hill and then did another hike. Shortly after returning to the parking lot he collapsed from exhaustion and dehydration. The park rangers and such arrived and took Chaz to the hospital in an ambulance. Luckily after they rehydrated him they returned him good as new and he was even able to join us for dinner.
Dinner was at a local burger joint and even though we didn't get to see the world's largest wooden spoon we still had fun. Then we went back to camp and had our final worship with the TEAMeffort crew. This turned out to be a very powerful and emotional experience that left the room a mess of red faces, running mascara and hugs. All in all we were all greatful that we were able to share this experience and come out of it much closer than we were before.
Now even though we had some powerful and serious experiences and structured fun we were still a group of silly teenagers. In our free time the girls and specifically Megan made up a hilarious tour song that had a little bit of everyone on tour in it. The boys bought wonderfully fun (though possibly politically incorrect but who really cared at that point) toy guns, bows and arrows, coonskin caps, and Canadian flags and proceeded to have an epic cowboys vs Indians battle. Both groups had fun and we all had fun during the camp talent show and game times :) In the words of Brian: I'll pter your dactyl ;)
Now we are back on our bus watching movies and playing My Cows. We are Back to the Future Part 3 and up next is Pocahontas followed by Armaggedon in honor of Connor and Mackenzie's birthday (though the movie is more for Connor).
Speaking of birthdays HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUYS!! We all love Connor and Mackenzie and celebrated their birthday with gifts and singing.
Basically we are all well and having a wonderful time thanks for reading this and checking up on us all!
Love,
Sara Brown
