Hello to all back at base Abiding Hope. Things at base Black Feet Lodge are going quite well for the time being. The voyage to the base went well with a few pit stops for the crew on tour. Once we arrived at the base the boys and girls separated for the night two wake up for a rough day of work to accomplish our mission.
Our mission- Restore a house that has been destroyed by a flood and to lead the VBS for the children on the reservation. The first day went well with no hitches. However, for the second day, our brave recruits were not so lucky.
First chapel led by the group containing Autumn, Shawn, Chaz, Elise, Aubrey, Kethry, Danny, and Monica. This is followed by a worm breakfast of eggs and sausage. Then, the crew headed out to the worksite.
The beginning of the day went well with nice sunshine and a light breeze to control the temperature from being too unbearable. About half of the entire crew stripped the shingles off of the roof of the house. Luckily, no one fell from the roof or was seriously hurt on the job. Though, the slick surface of the roof made the job difficult. Throughout the day, we lost three workers to a stomach bug. This unfortunate event did not hinder the efforts of our brave workers. As the wooden shingles fell from the roof, a few of the workers transported them to a burning pile which was soon ignited and roared on throughout the day with a fiery vengeance. Sadly, the fire came to an end as the rains came.
The ices cold rains were not exactly rains. They were more of slush balls falling from the sky. With the precipitation falling strongly, work on the roof of the house came to a close as everyone piled in the dilapidated house. As things the workers could do came to a close, they began to wonder when the bus would show up to transport them back to base Black Feet Lodge.
When the bus came around the corner, all of the crew rejoiced and piled on to their transportation. Back at the base, the boys and girls separated once again to shower away a day’s worth of grime. An intense battle took place as the girls fought for the shower. Once all had finished, a larger group gathered in the chapel to witness the straightening of Danny’s hair. Once it was finished, the end product was a man who looked like John BonJovi and then, when a bandana and peace shirt were added, a man who looked like Shaggy appeared. Following Danny, Andrew got his hair straightened and looked like a member of the Beatles. Currently the crew awaits a dinner to satisfy their appetites then will proceed to play games in the fields surrounding the base.
Now, all information has been transported. Do not share this with anyone whom you do not trust with your life. Or at least your friendship. Send my greetings to The boys and hello to Mom and Dad.
~~Autumn
